About healincomfort TM ©

I started my company healincomfort.com and created the healincomfort shirt from my own personal experience. I am a breast cancer survivor diagnosed in 2000 at the age of 40. During my last appointment with the surgeon prior to my surgery I was handed a piece of paper with the standard instructions to prepare for my operation. One of those instructions suggested to bring
"loose fitting clothing" to go home in after surgery. I wasn't prepared for the difficulty with getting dressed as movement was very painful. My "loose fitting clothing" was very difficult to get on because I couldn't bend my arms back. Then I was handed two drain tubes. I realized I was being given yet another new problem, I didn't have a place for my drains so I had to hold them in my hands. The difficult experience of getting dressed and no place for my drain tubes made me angry.
I didn't have the right equipment to go home in. I immediately started thinking of a solution to this problem. There just had to be a better way for people to leave the hospital after surgery.
People need to heal in comfort and dignity and not waste valuable energy on trying to figure out what to wear after surgery. That realization of nothing to wear broke my spirit and was the final insult to injury. I was in no condition to go shopping and nothing in my closet would work so I designed my own post-operative shirt called the healincomfort shirt. As for the drains, I used (just a suggestion) a lanyard to hold them in front which left my hands free. I discovered that because the drains were not attached to my clothing changing was much easier. For me the lanyard proved to be a wonderful solution as it was very helpful for showering, sleeping and simply moving around. (always ask your doctor for his/her approval before using a lanyard to hold the drains).
Over the last eight years, I have made healincomfort shirts for several of my friends who were having upper extremity surgeries. Each time one my friends wore my healincomfort shirt the post-operative nurses all remarked how easy it was for them to help my friends get dressed to go home after the surgery. The doctors all expressed great interest during the post office visits because the shirts allowed for a more discrete check up as the patient didn't have to remove the whole garment for the doctor to examine the patient. This allowed my friends more privacy and dignity. I heard for years that this design needs to be on the market and available for people so here I am now, starting this business, healincomfort.com to help others so they do not have to experience what I had to experience. It is important to me that you can heal in comfort and dignity.
Plan ahead and order your healincomfort shirt early so you can take it to the hospital with you to go home in. Order one for a friend, it is about the same price as flowers, and this is truly a gift they will be able to use for weeks after surgery.
I believe just as a doctor places a sling on an injured arm the healincomfort shirt needs to be placed on an injured body to make the healing process easier. This shirt has many post operative uses including; breast cancer surgery, shoulder surgery, heart surgery and breast augmentations. It may also be used for Alzheimer patients and basically anyone who has difficulty getting dressed. The shirt is made from soft material and has hydrophilic (moisture wicking) fabric, so you can heal in comfort and dignity.©
